What's on the worksheet
- Look at how to write C and c. Start at the green dot.
- Trace the uppercase C.
- Trace the lowercase c.
- Write C and c on your own.
- Trace the word. Color the picture.
Skills practiced
C is one of the best first letters to write because both forms are the same curve in two sizes. Your child traces big C from the top line to the bottom line, small c between the dotted line and the bottom line, and then traces the word cat. That curve is also the start of a, d, g, o, and q, so practicing it here makes many other letters easier later on.

How to use it, step by step
- Say the letter name and its sound together, then point to the green dot where each stroke starts.
- Trace the big model with a finger first, following the numbered arrows in order.
- Your child traces the gray letters with a pencil, starting each one at the green dot, then writes the letter alone on the empty line.
- Finish with the picture word: say it slowly, trace it, and color the picture.
Tips for parents and teachers
Start every C at the green dot near the top and pull the pencil back to the left, like a big open mouth. A common mistake is starting at the bottom or going the wrong way around, so watch the first few letters closely. For the sound, stick with the hard /k/ in cat, cup, and car; the soft sound in city can wait.
Make it easier or harder
Easier: Draw big C's in the air together, or in sand or shaving cream, before your child picks up a pencil. Then trace only one row of each size.
Harder: Point out that the c in cat and the k in kite make the same sound. Then ask your child to find every C and c on a page of a favorite picture book.
